RENO, Nev. (AP) - Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe officials say they're getting ready to open a scenic new day lodge in the East Bowl area.

The Winters Creek Lodge is expected to open by Dec. 19, replacing a historic but inadequate lodge demolished at the end of last ski season.

The new structure has a bar overlooking Washoe and Pleasant Valleys. The lodge will be able to seat 150 people inside in a glass-walled room, and another 400 on a deck with a large fire pit as the centerpiece.

The lodge will offer only food and beverages. Lessons and equipment rentals are available only at the main lodge.
