Home Invasion Robbery

Three robbers are on the loose after they broke into a house in Rancho Mirage Tuesday night and robbed the people inside at gunpoint. KMIR6 News talked with neighbors, who never thought that would happen in their community.

Bud Sinclair/Lives Nearby: “One of the reasons we're here is because it's one of the safest neighborhoods…period. We have virtually no problems with crime.”

Bud Sinclair lives in San Marino, a gated community in Rancho Mirage.

Bud and other people living in the neighborhood are surprised about what happened Tuesday night.

A home on San Marino circle off Gerald Ford Drive was robbed.

Three men broke-in, tied up the couple inside, and took cash at gunpoint.

The men then took off in the couple's car. The Sheriff's Department says the car was found in Bermuda Dunes, abandoned three hours after the robbery.

Bud Sinclair/Lives Nearby: “They were unhappy because they felt totally safe here, as does everybody else.”

That's what Bud says the people living here told him. Even though there was a robbery down the street from him, he’s not too concerned.

Bud Sinclair/Lives Nearby: “No, because if they come in my house, they're dead. How's that work? I'm not interested in shooting anybody, but I won't hesitate if they were to come in my house. Of course you don’t know what will happen if you’re not there.”
