Anthony Alvarez
Anthony Alvarez has worn many hats throughout his broadcast and journalism career. In his career he has worked behind and in front of the lens.
In March of 2007 he became general assignment reporter for KMIR 6. Before his arrival in the desert he worked in San Francisco as a freelance photographer. CBS 47 in Fresno is where he reported on stories such as the Governor’s reform policy to stories in Modesto at the home of convicted killer Scott Peterson. At NBC 11 in Yuma, AZ, he was on the court and crime beat as reporter / anchor.
In Scottsdale, AZ. Anthony worked as anchor, reporter and producer on Cox Cable TV for Impact News. He also shot and edited his own news stories while there. In the same city prior to broadcast news he worked in radio as a DJ and on the promotions team at KPTY 103.9 FM.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, photography and fitness training.

Chris Biele
Everyday I'm excited to report for KMIR 6 News and contribute to this community. This is a station that's dedicated to serving the Coachella Valley. I graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in communication. Most recently, I worked for the CBS affiliate in San Diego. There, I learned much of what I know about telling great stories. When Im not reporting, I like to discover the great restaurants in our area or visit my friends and family in San Diego, LA and the desert.
If you have any story ideas or you have a comment just shoot me an e-mail.

Ciara Coyle
Born and raised in San Francisco, Ciara (pronounced “Kira”) headed north for college, attending the University of Oregon in Eugene. She earned a Dean’s Journalism Scholarship and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. Shortly before graduating, she began working for the NBC affiliate in Eugene as a newscast producer. A year later, she moved to Reno, NV where she jumped in as a news producer and reporter at the “Biggest Little City’s” CBS station. She covered state government affairs in Nevada’s capitol, Carson City, environmental issues such as chemical leakage into groundwater at Lake Tahoe, erosion control after wildfires, and more. One of her stories helped South Lake Tahoe police locate and catch an elusive, serial sexual predator.
She successfully made a switch to a career in public relations for several years, however, she says she found herself yearning to get back into the community and delve into issues affecting the people around her.
Now a resident of the Banning Pass area, admittedly for the moderately cooler weather than the Valley, Ciara best enjoys stories that make a difference. “Whether that means exposing a new crime wave or fire danger in an area, or talking about medical technology, it’s my job to let people know…and that’s what I love doing,” she says.
Ciara travels whenever possible, and says she’s fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit most of the United States, Canada, Europe and China. She has a love of the outdoors and often goes hiking in Idllywild and Big Bear. In the winter, she skis as much as possible. You may also find her kicking up her heels, practicing Irish Dancing, something she’s participated in since childhood. .

Gloria Margarita
Cathedral City native Gloria Margarita is a reporter for KMIR 6-TV, and feels lucky to be reporting in her hometown! She most enjoys reporting stories that impact the community and can bring change. Margarita received bachelor’s degrees in political science and journalism from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Columbia University in New York. She graduated from Cathedral City High School. Before KMIR 6, Margarita was a reporter for KNWA, the NBC affiliate in Fayetteville, Ark. Margarita also has a print background. She has written articles for The New York Times, The Boston Globe, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and The Desert Sun. She covered the New York Yankees baseball team regularly as a freelance reporter and sports intern for The New York Times. She also covered the USC football team for her school newspaper, The Daily Trojan.
Margarita is very involved in the community. She was a summer writing teacher for Xavier College Preparatory High School in Palm Desert and serves on the board for the Dr. Carreon Scholarship Foundation. She and her family started the Gloria Rodríguez Memorial Scholarship Foundation, in memory of her mother, for local students. Margarita has served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for numerous local events.
Some of Margarita’s reports for KMIR6 include stories about shoddy living conditions at the Desert Mobile Home Park in Thermal, coverage of President Gerald Ford’s state funeral, a three-part series following local Pearl Harbor Survivors back to Hawaii for the 65th anniversary of the attack, and coverage of the Esperanza, Sawtooth Complex, Grass Valley and Slide Fires. She is always looking for a good story! If you have any ideas, please contact her at: gmargarita@kmir6.com.

Suzanne Pajot
Suzanne Pajot is a dedicated journalist with more than a decade of on-air experience. She joined KMIR in February 2007 as a general assignment reporter. Previously she spent 4 years as a reporter at WLNE-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, where she specialized in in-depth stories and light-hearted features. Before that she reported for 5 1/2 years at KESQ-TV in Palm Desert. She grew up Thousand Oaks, just north of Los Angeles, and went to college at UC Berkeley. She loves living here in the desert, and makes her home in Palm Desert, with her husband and two small children.

Tina Patel
Tina will be the first one to tell you she has the best job at KMIR. As the reporter for KMIR 6 Today, she gets to meet new people and explore new places in the valley every morning. If you wake up early, maybe you’ve seen some of her more unusual assignments: flying in a fighter jet over Thermal, jumping into the lake at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, skydiving in an indoor tunnel in Perris, swimming with Beluga whales at Sea World, play with meerkats in Morongo Valley, hanging out with Al Roker on the set of Heroes, and reporting live from the Grand Canyon Skywalk.
Tina may be willing to make a fool of herself for our enjoyment, but she is also a serious journalist with more than ten years in the news business. She’s been a reporter and anchor in the Inland Empire, Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A New Jersey native, she graduated from the University of Southern California and met her husband at her first job at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles.
Tina’s always looking for new locations to broadcast from, here in the valley. If you’ve got a story idea, you can e-mail her at tpatel@kmir6.com.
