New Senior Lifestyle Expo sponsored by Desert Regional Medical Center and Palm Springs Disposal.

They will feature a Senior Farmer’s Market offered by Hidden Harvest.  This is the debut of a Farmer’s Market two times a month at Mizell. 

Another featured component of the Expo will be free Health Seminars beginning at 10:00AM with “Do’s and Don’ts of a Hospital Stay featuring Sheda Heidarian, MD. 

The 11:00AM seminar will be on “Bioidentical Hormones” with Richard Loftus, MD and Bruce Bornfleth, MD

The Noon seminar featuring the ABC’s of Senior Healthcare with Pharmacists from Desert Regional Medical Center.  Participants can bring their medications and receive a Personal Medication Review beginning at 10AM. 

Finally, the Keynote Seminar is at 1:00PM with Don Anderson, MD speaking on Advances in Alzheimer’s Disease Treatment. 

Free Flu Shots are the focus of the Senior Lifestyle Expo.  The influenza virus is a serious concern to the health of our community.  Annually, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications and as many as 36,000 could die from the virus and its complications.  This year, according to the CDC, the flu strain is expected to be especially dangerous to our senior population.  In response, Mizell Senior Center has decided to provide the flu shots free of charge.  Individuals can schedule a “no waiting appointment” by stopping by Mizell Senior Center before October 21 and pick up a free appointment card for a convenient time.
