ERADICATING INTOLERANCE: Replacing Biblical Lies with Bible Truth
For centuries the Bible has been manipulated to justify persecution and violence, particularly against human beings who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans, as well as people who are Jewish, and those of other races, ethnicities and religions. We invite you to come and hear what the Bible actually says; not what you may have learned, or what others say it says. The essential message of the Bible is to love yourself and to share that love with others. We invite you to explore how you feel about your own nature, about the natures of others – similar and different - and where you and they come from. Our purpose is to explore the replacement of hatred with love. The promise we offer is that, after the event, you will feel better about yourself, and about others, than you did before. Speaker: Father Don Pachuta, M.D. is an ordained priest, biblical scholar, experienced physician and teacher of scripture from its original languages. For several decades, as a practitioner of Western and Eastern medicine, he has pioneered the use of guided imagery for healing and has lectured around the world on mind-body-spiritual health. Indeed, he has brought hope and inspiration to thousands of people suffering life-threatening illnesses, in particular AIDS. Don writes a weekly homily on the Gospel, widely-read by clergy and laity of all the major Christian denominations, the great non-Christian traditions, and others with no religious affiliation at all. He currently conducts healing and scripture workshops throughout the country, and serves as the priest of the Community of Saint Luke in Framingham, MA, an Ecumenical Catholic Community, where ALL are truly welcome. * * * The mission of TransScribe is to eradicate prejudice, abuse and violence against transsexual women; we do so by telling our stories.
