Members of Cal State San Bernardino’s music faculty will travel to the university’s Palm Desert Campus to perform a classical music concert on Sunday, May 20, at 2 p.m. This free concert, which will take place in the campus’s Indian Wells Theater, is one of the ways the Palm Desert Campus is saying “thank you” to the community for its generous support over the years. Admission is free and parking is paid for by Friends of the Palm Desert Campus. The “Jocelyn Hua-Chen Chang and Friends” piano trio recital will take place in the campus’s Indian Wells Theater and will feature Jocelyn Hua-Chen Chang on piano, Bo Wu on violin and Xian Zhuo on cello. The program includes Piano Trio No. 1, Op. 8 in B major by Johannes Brahms and Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 50 by Tchaikovsky, among others. Chang is an award-winning pianist and is consistently praised as “a pianist of virtuoso caliber” whose “artistry is very unique and communicative with wonderful attention to detail, texture, color and style.” Chang holds a doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance, with distinction, from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. She received her master of music degree in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and her bachelor of fine arts degree from the National Taiwan Normal University.
