Palm Desert To Fund Resort Waterpark
The Palm Desert City Council and the JW Marriot agree to a million dollar deal.
The city is going to help the resort build a waterpark to pump the local economy. The money comes in the form of a tax rebate after several years of hotel collecting occupancy dollars.
"We have never done this before. But other cities have Palm Springs has done it, rancho morage has done it," said Palm Desert Mayor Bob Spiegel.
More than 400 redevelpoment agencies will shut down next month because of a supreme court ruling. No word yet when the hotel will build the waterpark structure.
