The Annual "Athena Awards" were hadned out today in Palm Springs - honoring women who serve the community.
The 26th Annual event was sponsored by the Palm Springs Chambe of Commerce, and is one of het highest recognitions for community service.
This years wnners were Barbara Sinatra, taking the inaugural "Community Icon" award; Annette Bloch recieved the "Jackie Lee Houston Angel Award" for her service to non-profit groups; and the "Athena Award" went to Sgt. Melissa Desmarais of the Palm Springs Police Department for her outstanding leadership in the community.
