INDIO - Riverside County launched a plan to push 'agricultural tourism' today.

The "Ag-Trail" will feature a website promoting Farmers' Markets, wineries, pumpkin patches and Christmas tree farms, among other stops to tourists. The site will also include details on Riverside County fairs and festivals such as the National Date Festival in Indio and the Beaumont Cherry Festival.

County Supervisor John Benoit says the plan will help promote tourism valley wide.

"A lot of folks have never been further east than this," he said at a strawberry stand in Indio.   "[They] haven't seen the production facilities and the fields.  it's a tremendous asset that we have in Riversdie County, and we just want to make it better known."
