COD Student Suspected of Having TB
PALM DESERT - College of the Desert officials said this afternoon that a student is suspected of having active tuberculosis (TB) and is being treated for the illness.
COD say the student has not been on campus in the last week and is expecte to make a full recovery.
This is the first case of TB involving a school setting this year in Riverside County. Eight cases have been reported countywide this year; compared to 56 in all of 2012.
The Depatment of Public Health is sending letter to those on campus that have been in close or prolonged contact with the individual, recommending a screening for possible TB infection.
