PALM SPRINGS-- Hundreds of people gathered in Palm Springs on Tuesday, in support of marriage equality. Those in attendance say they have high hopes the Supreme Court will legalize same sex marriage.
Although it wasn't quite as big as the rally in Los Angeles, hundreds of people showed up. There were many speakers, including Congressman, Dr. Raul Ruiz. People of various sexual orientations cheered, held signs and supported the speakers, agreeing that the idea of "equality" affects ever single one of us in some form or another.
Recent polls show that support for same-sex marriage has surged across America. Many in attendance say when it comes to those against gay marriage, it's a generational issue.
On Wednesday, the court will hear the Federal Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman. It also bars gay couples from receiving federal benefits.
