Firefighters Get Upper Hand on Fires
Control on fires in Glendale and Walnut

CAMARILLO - It was a day for multiple wild fires to keep firefighters busy across Southern California today.
Firefighters wrapped up a second say of fighting the massive Spring Fire, near Camarillo in Ventura County. The fire, which quickly consumed dry brush and threateed homes on it's first day , gave firefighters challeges on Friday.
According to reports from the scene, the Srping Fire is 20% contained as of 5:00 p.m. Fire officials are not estimated a time, or even a date for full containment.
In Glendale, firefighters now have full containment on a 75-acre fire that scorched brush in Glenoaks Canyon and Chevy Chase Canyon, just north of downtown. A number of residents were forced from their homes, but are exepcted to be allowed back in at approximately 8:00 p.m.
In Walnut, just west of Pomona, firefighters took just over an hour to knock down a seven acre fire that broke out on dry, hilly terrain. Firefighters on the scene say some homes were threatened.
