LA QUINTA - La Quinta residents gathered at the La Quinta Senior Center as a valley-wide blood drive kicked off this morning. This drive has a bit of a twist, as nine desert cities will compete for bragging rights in a challenge from Desert Blood Services.
Over the next 3 weeks, Desert Blood Services vans will visit sites in each Coachella Valley community, where residents are encouraged to show civic pride by donating blood.
As an incentive, each donor will receive a pass for a day in the sun at Soak City.
Blood drive dates and locations are:
Indian Wells: Wednesday, July 17, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indian Wells Club, 44500 Indian Wells.
Desert Hot Springs: Thursday, July 18, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wellness Center, 11750 Cholla Drive.
Palm Desert: Saturday, July 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Westfield Mall, 72840 Highway 111.
Indio: Wednesday, July 24, 12 to 6 p.m. Indio Teen Center, 81-678 Avenue 46.
Palm Springs: Thursday, July 25, 12 to 6 p.m. City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way.
Cathedral City: Tuesday, July 30, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Civic Center, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero.
Coachella: Wednesday, July 31, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Senior Center, 1540 Seventh St.
Rancho Mirage: Thursday, Aug. 1, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. City Hall, 69-825 Highway 111.
