Roadwork Congests Palm Desert Commute
PALM DESERT - Drivers on Highway 111 are about to face a new set of challenges as more road work begins.
Construction crews will begin work on Tuesday on the western end of Highway 111 in Palm Desert. Road widening crews will block off lanes and delay traffic; similar work is underway at Palm Desert's eastern end of 111, near Cook Street. The three land road has been reduced to one lane at Cook Street; expect similar conditions at the other end of Palm Desert.
Drivers have already been battling with ongoing construction on Fred Waring Drive and Monterey Avenue, which has had widening work in front of College of the Desert. That work has been going since late Spring and will continue through October.
