Remembering Carl Bray Dead at 94
BANNING - A famous local artist who built a landmark home and art gallery that once stood along Highway 111 in Indian Wells has died.
Carl Bray died Saturday morning from natural causes in Banning. In the early 1950s, Bray bought a Highway 111 frontage lot in Indian Wells for $1,000 where he built a house and gallery.
The 50-year-old property in Indian Wells was demolished last year.
The Indian Wells city council is still discussing plans to replace it with a memorial park.
A funeral service is planed for later this week. Bray was 94.
