Indio Man Arrested in Drug Cartel Investigation
LONG BEACH- An Indio man has been arrested for allegedly taking part in a cocaine smuggling operation involving a Mexican drug cartel.
Rene Guerrero of Indio, and Giovani Arias of Sinaloa Mexico - were arrested last week.
The Department of Justice targeted the Guadalajara Cartel - a group that smuggles large amounts of cocaine and meth into California.
The pair was arrested during a sting operation near Long Beach - and were found in possession of $5 million worth of cocaine.
If convicted, the men each face a maximum of 25 years in state prison
