Bank Robbery Investigation
THOUSAND PALMS - A masked gunman robbed a 1st Bank branch this
afternoon in Thousand Palms, a sheriff's spokesman said.
Sheriff's Sgt. Joe Borja said that there were no injuries and no shots were fired in the heist. The robbery occurred in the 39000 block of Washington Street near Varner Road around 3 PM this afternoon
"A man wearing a mask and dark clothing entered the bank demanding money and brandishing a gun,'' Borja said. No further description of the suspect was realeased.
The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank on foot.
Sheriff's deputies arrived within minutes and searched the area but did
not find the suspect.
