Janet Jackson Headline's Mccallum Theatre Gala
PALM DESERT- McCallum Theatre announces that global superstar Janet Jackson will perform live, on stage, at the McCallum Theatre's Annual Fundraising Gala on December 1, 2011.
The evening will honor Gilbert and Thelma Schnitzer, longtime supporters and patrons of the McCallum Theatre. "We're very proud that the McCallum has chosen us as this year's Gala Honorees," said Gilbert Schnitzer. "Thelma and I applaud the outstanding educational programs the McCallum Theatre Institute provides to our community and the stellar entertainment the Theatre presents."
Mr. Schnitzer has served on the McCallum's Board of Trustees since 1997 and is currently a Trustee Emeritus. Mr. and Mrs. Schnitzer have demonstrated exemplary generosity and service to the McCallum since 1986. In addition to their extraordinary support to the McCallum, the Schnitzers have had a tremendous impact on the entire desert community through their philanthropies to countless organizations. Mr. and Mrs. Schnitzer will co-chair the event with their sister-in-law, Mrs. Arlene Schnitzer.
"This is going to be a particularly special evening," said Ted Giatas, "In addition to honoring Gilbert and Thelma Schnitzer, the McCallum Theatre is presenting the incomparable Janet Jackson in her debut performance in the Valley."

Proceeds from the Gala will benefit McCallum Theatre Institute programs, including arts education activities that have served more than 300,000 Coachella Valley schoolchildren.
Gala performance tickets are available at $500 for preferred seating. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and dinner at one of four excellent desert restaurants - Cuistot, Jillian's, Ruth's Chris Steak House or Wally's Desert Turtle, followed by Janet Jackson's 8:00 p.m. performance at the McCallum Theatre.
