TSA May Not Test Health Risks of Body Scanners
NATIONWIDE - The Transportation Security Administration may not end up doing an independent study of airport body scanners...because it says a soon-to-be-released report claims the machines are not harmful.
T-S-A Administrator John Pistole said he has "no concerns about the safety of the machines."
He said independent scientific organizations say the backscatter machines emit the same amount of radiation that passengers are exposed to during three minutes in flight.
However, some lawmakers are still pushing for an independent study on the health effects of the scanners, saying they hope the T-S-A does not back away from doing a study.
