PALM SPRINGS - The rain may have stopped but the cold weather continues.

Bone chilling temperatures high atop Mount San Jacinto at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway - along with a lot of fresh snow.

If the chilly air and showers haven't put you in the holiday spirit just look up. Mountains covered in snow. Quite a site on the valley floor, folks pulled over to take pictures in Palm Springs.

"Just the collision of the clouds and snow and the beautiful mountains contrasting with the valley below," Kevin Knauss said.

Farther up the moutain families zipped up. Ready for below freezing conditions. Warnings of snow exactly what kids are looking forward to.

"Have fun and just play," said 6 year-old Chazlee Yu. "Make snow angels and snow men and snow fights."

Snow is exactly what they got today, 5 inches falling overnight. Enough for a snow ball, some sledding, even a little snow boarding.

"Well we got some fresh snow," said snowboarder James March. "It looks like its actually still coming down so i'm going to take my little board here and carve out some runs."

Snow lovers flocking to the mountain for a taste of winter in the desert.
