Search for Man with Gun in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS- Police call off the search for a possible suicidal man with a gun in Palm Springs.
According to the Palm Springs Police Department, a person reported seeing a man waving a gun and yelling, "pray for me" before running up a hill behind the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Police began searching for the man shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday calling for a helicopter search from the California Highway Patrol.
Police were able to identify the man, "based on information received from the initial reporting person," said police.
The search was called off due to the darkness.
"Police determined that the subject did not present a danger to others and the surrounding area was reopened at that time," said police.
The man is described by police as white, 27 years old, 5'11", 150 pounds with brown hair and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt.
The public is asked to call 760-323-8116 if they see anything suspicious in the area.
