Countdown to Christmas
The countdown to Christmas is almost over.
And people across the Coachella Valley are scrambling to get everything ready.
The rush is on to buy last-minute gifts, and all the fixings for the holiday meals.
So what's left on the holiday checklist?
For one, last minute shopping.
"I am doing some last minute Christmas shopping and I've got two more days, hoping to finish by tomorrow," said Michelle Blake, visiting from the Bay Area.
The streets were packed with shoppers.
John Cover told us who he's shopping for, "Oh for my daughter and her mother." But could he tell us what he got them? "Yeah I can't tell you. Secret!"
It's no secret last minute grocery shopping is also on the holiday checklist.
Buddy and his human, Gary Hickox are getting the last couple items
"I am here for my last minute, this is it, I said I'm not going to do any more shopping after this, so I'm here to pick up mushrooms, and lemonade, and all kinds of vegetable because I want them fresh, and then we're done," said Hickox
Last minute shopping kept the streets packed.
"This has been crazy, you can not even come to the store here without going all the way down, the other way around," said Maie-Jenne Darr after shopping for groceries.
But when you're done with your checklist, the fun begins.
Minerva Road in Cathedral City transforms into Candycane Lane.
What's the best part of Candycane lane we asked Makayla, "The lights are so pretty."
John Dodd joined the Candycane Lane tradition in 1989 when there were just seven houses on the street.
"It just took off from there, more and more people moved in, it just filled up, and the lights got bigger better," said Dodd.
Mia and her family love the impressive Christmas displays.
"You get to walk around and see all the lights," said Mia Burr. We asked what is her favorite part about the holiday season. "You get to open presents and everything," said Mia.
The countdown to Christmas is almost over, the list has been checked twice, now its time to have a Merry Christmas!
