Early Morning Crash

CATHEDRAL CITY - Early Monday morning Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle roll-over in the area of the 68800 block of Vista Chino Dr. CCPD officers responded and found a Jeep Cherokee flipped over on its side in the driveway of a neighbor's residence. Officers also located a Chevy Tahoe about 100 yards east of the Jeep. Officers located the driver of Chevy. The driver initially told officers he was the victim of a hit-and-run, but there was no evidence of another vehicle on the roadway at the time of the collision.

The Chevy was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Vista Chino approaching Date Palm Dr when it struck the Jeep. The Jeep was legally parked and unoccupied, which was fortunate because owner was about to leave for work.

Arrested-Robert Jaime Martinez, 44 years of age, residing in La Quinta, CA. Martinez was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs. Martinez was also arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on 112411, by an allied law enforcement agency. That case is still pending. Martinez was transported and booked Cathedral City Jail. There were no other injuries to Martinez, bystanders or the owner of the Jeep.
