Elderly Woman's Death Appears Unusual
LA QUINTA - Police say the death of an elderly La Quinta resident appears to have some unusual circumstances. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department and La Quinta Police Department are investigating the death as suspicious.
Police say on January 1 about 10:46 am, officers from the La Quinta Police Department received a call from a concerned out-of-state family member, requesting a safety check on an elderly resident of the 50800 block of Paradise Road East.
The reporting party attempted to call the elderly resident at the location, but there was no answer, which was the cause for concern. Officers arrived on scene about 11:08 am, and made entry into the residence where they discovered the body of 70-year-old Paulette Cappas.
Because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the case, investigators from the Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit and La Quinta Police Department responded to assume the death investigation.
