SUV Crashes into Pole, Driver's Missing Dog Found
THOUSAND PALMS - The driver of a SUV was rushed to the hospital Wednesday after crashing into a power pole in Thousand Palms.
The crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Bob Hope Drive and Ramon Road.
The accident caused electrical lines to fall onto the roadway, shutting off power to about 400 Southern California Edison customers.
The female driver was briefly trapped when the pole fell onto the SUV. The woman's service dog escaped during the crash running off into the desert.
According to Cal Fire, the small black poodle named Iggy returned to the scene of the crash later that night and was rescued by workers with Southern California Edison who were still working in the area.
Power has been restored and Iggy will be reunited with his family.
