Rep. Jerry Lewis Retiring from Office
RIVERSIDE - Longtime Southern California Republican Congressman Jerry Lewis is retiring.
Lewis is serving his 17th term of representing California in the 41st Disrtict that covers San Bernardino County - and parts of Desert Hot Springs.
He's a member of the powerful house appropriations committee.
Lewis' district was recently split, when the state redrew its district maps.
He is the third Republican House Member from California within a week to announce retirement.
Lewis was first elected to office back in 1978.
