Investigation into GG Island Fire Continues
RANCHO MIRAGE - Investigators continue to search for clues on what sparked a devastating fire that destroyed a restaurant in Rancho Mirage.
Calfire Investigators are looking to see if Tuesday morning's fire at GG's Island was deliberately set - as a burglar alarm was triggered minutes before the fire started.
The blaze caused five-million dollars in damage. KMIR6 News has now learned that one month before the fire, the owner of GG's was ordered to pay eight employees 44-thousand dollars in back wages and penalties.
The Division of Labor Standards Enforcement has an active investigation on the restaurant and its owner Saad Said.
According to documents, claims from those eight employees ranged from five-hundred dollars up to 57-hundred dollars.
