DESERT HOT SPRINGS--- A local designer is helping a little girl with a heart condition feel like a princess. Project Runaway's Michael Costello is designing a custom made dress for a special occasion honoring the six-year-old girl.

Codi Pelton knows what she wants her dream dress to look like.

"It's going to have a short bow, a mermaid purse, some sparkly princess shoes and a crown," said Codi.

Project Runaway designer Michael Costello is sitting down with Codi to draw up a dress just for her. She'll wear it at the upcoming American Heart Association's Go Red for Women luncheon, where they will honor the six-year-old survivor.

But Codi's life is far from a fairytale. She was born with an underdeveloped heart and has undergone numerous surgeries, keeping her alive.

"She's here. That's all that matters. She's growing and striving and a smart little kid," said Lisa Pelton, Codi's mother.

Codi will strut the runaway at the luncheon showing everyone her princess-inspired dress.

"She loves getting in front of people and this is her calling right now," said Pelton.

Codi got the chance to draw her own design-- a cape and crown outfit for the designer.

"I think it's more special working with my youngest client ever, so that's how I'm approaching it and I have to say she's got some good points," said Palm Springs designer Michael Costello.

The luncheon honoring Codi takes place February 3rd at the Westin Mission Hills. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
