INDIO- Jurors heard shocking testimony today in the police brutality case that pits Desert Hot Springs police against a family from the city.  On the witness stand three of the family members suing the city for millions of dollars.

Edward Moore took the stand, giving the key testimony that could swing the jury.

On the stand Mr. Moore said he felt degraded and that his family hasn't had justice for what happened five years ago. That's when police responded to a hit and run in front of his house.

Moore says police didn't go after the driver and instead unleashed violence on him and his family, accusing cops of using pepper spray and slamming people to the ground.

Moore says police targeted him because he had been suing the city for racial discrimination.

"We believe that if the officers had arrived at someone else's house for a DUI investigation it would have gone much differently. The reason that it escalated into violence was precipiated with Mr. Moore being ignored when he asked  for medical attention for his children and being insulted and profanity used against him by the officers," said Alexander Perez, an attorney for the Moore family.

The defense lawyers have declined interviews, but their strategy is to put the fault on Mr. Moore.
In questioning, the defense attorney repeatedly asked Mr. Moore how calm he was when police arrived.

Moore and his family are suing the city for $15 million.
