Storm Watch: Cold Storm Moving-In
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A cold storm moving through Southern California has disrupted traffic on Interstate 5 in Tejon Pass.
Caltrans says the highway was shut down in both directions shortly after 2 p.m. Monday due to snow in the pass, which rises more than 4,100 feet between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley.
California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Ramirez says there's also been snow and heavy hail in the San Gabriel Mountains and that will affect commutes between Los Angeles and the Antelope Valley.
Caltrans says chains are required on sections of Route 2 in the San Gabriels and Route 18 in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Forecasters say strong gusty winds are occurring in the mountains and deserts, and moderate rain and snow will be interspersed with heavy precipitation and isolated thunderstorms.
