Strong Winds Blowing Through Coachella Valley: Road Closure
PALM DESERT - A high wind advisory is in effect for the Coachella Valley as issued by the National Weather Service. The advisory is issued through 3 A.M. Wednesday.
Incidents of fallen trees and wind damage are being reported throughout the desert valley.
Wind speeds of 35 to 45 mph are forecasted with possible gusts of up to 65 mph and isolated bursts of up to 80 mph.
Gene Autry Trail at the wash will be closed to all traffic in both directions due to high winds and blowing sand. This is south of I-10 and north of Via Escuela Drive. As of this time, alternate routes are still open, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson.
Motorist with high profile vehicles are advised to use caution on the freeways.
