Operation Safe Coachella
The Coachella Police Department took the lead in yet another round of "Operation Safe Coachella."
The total number of arrests made from Friday's operation, was 16 people. A majority of those arrested were for drug-related crimes. The Deputy Chief says "Operation Safe Coachella" is a multi-faceted approach to reducing the fear of crime in Coachella and increasing the quality if life.
Officials from various departments in the Coachella Valley came together to help make the city of Coachella a safer place. Mayor Eduardo Garcia says petty crime in his city, is on the rise.
"With the economic circumstance, we've seen an increase in smaller types of crimes- the burglaries, the breakins-- things of that sort," says Coachella Mayor Eduardo Garcia.
