Indio Considers Handing Riverside County the Leash to Animal Services
INDIO - The city of Indio is considering getting out of the animal control business.
City Council members will discuss and vote at Wednesday night's Indio City Council meeting whether to turn control of the city operated animal shelter over to Riverside County. The meeting begins at 5 P.M.
Indio has managed its own shelter service for the past several years.
City leaders say, the move to relinquish control of animal services operations could help Indio save more than $40,000 a year in operation expenses.
If approved, Riverside County would take over operation beginning in April.
