PALM SPRINGS - A celebration of solar energy jobs Friday in Palm Springs.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the unveiling of a 120 foot solar parabolic trough which will train program participants in Solar Thermal Technology.
The ceremony took place at College of the Desert's Desert Energy Enterprise Center located of Interstate 10 and Gene Autry Trail.
Solar partners have donated equipment, hands-on training and curriculum development for the classes held at the center.
The center opened back in January 2010 and has trained workers for utility-scale solar energy plant construction.
