NFL Player Visits Students
DESERT HOT SPRINGS - A former football player overcame some difficult odds in his fight for a better life.
Friday, he brought his inspirational story to students here in the valley.
Retired football player Kermit Alexander grew up in inner city Los Angeles.
He was an all American in football and track at UCLA before playing for the San Francisco 49ers, the L.A. Rams and Philadelphia Eagles.
Then tragedy struck, his mother, sister and two nephews were killed in shootings in L.A.
Alexander then became a probation officer for youth and young adults.
He told students at Painted Hills Elementary that making smart choices now will affect the rest of their lives.
Alexander now lives in Riverside with his wife Tami and five children they adopted from Haiti.
