Two Planes Involved in Alien Smuggling
IMPERIAL - Border Patrol Agents have seized two airplanes that were used to smuggle illegal aliens just outside the Coachella Valley.
The first seizure took place on Friday evening near the Imperial County Airport.
Six Mexican nationals who were illegally in the U.S. were arrested as they attempted to board the commuter aircraft.
A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of transporting the group to the airport.
A male U.S. citizen acting as the pilot was also arrested.
A second plane was seized later that evening. It was also being used to smuggle a group of five illegal aliens.
Since 2010, Border Patrol Agents have seized 5 aircraft used in smuggling operations.
