Cathedral City Budget Meeting
CATHEDRAL CITY - Cathedral City residents had a chance to voice their concerns to deep cuts to the city's budget. Cuts, the City Manager says there is no way around.
It was a packed room at the Cathedral City Library, as the City Manager explained why the city is financally strapped.
This was the first of three community meetings being held to provide information on the city's budget status.
Cathedral City Mayor Kathy Derosa says it's going to get worse, before it gets better.
"In the next two years, we'll be $12 million behind what we would've gotten in the general fund, had redevelopment not gone away," says Derosa.
Even though no final decisions regarding have been made, the City Manager says they're looking at 25% cuts to everything in the general fund, and that inculdes the police and fire departments. The final budget is due July 1, 2012.
