Music and Television Icon Dick Clark Dead At 82
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A spokesman says Dick Clark, the longtime host of `American Bandstand,' has died. He was 82. Clark, who also became a familiar part of Americans' New Year's Eve celebrations with his broadcasts from Times Square, had been slowed since a stroke in 2004. Clark passed away Wednesday morning following a massive heart attack, according to his family. Clark entered St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica Tuesday night for an outpatient procedure, according to spokesman Paul Shefrin. Attempts to resuscitate Clark were unsuccessful. Dick Clark is survived by his wife Kari and his three children, RAC, Duane and Cindy.
