PALM SPRINGS - Police say they have arrested a person of interest in a Palm Springs shooting death investigation. Chad Barrera, 31, of Cathedral City is in police custody. Investigators say he is a suspect in the murder of a 36-year-old man and a related kidnapping.

Police found the victim already dead inside a Palm Springs residence early Friday. It appeared he had been shot, according to Palm Springs Police.

Officers responded to a home on the 300 block of West Mariscal Road shortly before 2 a.m. Friday and discovered the unresponsive victim inside the residence.

Police say Barrera was in custody on an unrelated charge at the time of his arrest. There are no outstanding suspects at this time. He is being held without bail for a violation of terms of his Post Release Community Service Probation Program.
