Local Charities Score Big With Humana Challenge
LA QUINTA - More than 3 dozen valley charities scored big thanks to the recent Humana Challenge. Officials with the Humana Challenge, held in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, presented checks to 39 Coachella Valley charities Friday, donations totaling more than $2 million.
The money came from proceeds raised by the golf tournament in La Quinta back in January. About half a million dollars was raised with a third going to charities here in the desert, most of which benefit children.
A $10,000 donation was also given to the Susan G. Komen "Go Red For Women" campaign, a charity KMIR6 is a proud sponsor of each year. Today's Desert Classic Charities luncheon and check presentation was held at La Quinta Country Club. KMIR6's Gino LaMont was there to help host the event and to accept the check for "Go Red For Women."
Humana Challenge officials tell KMIR6 they look forward to a bigger and better tournament next year.
