Palm Desert High School Goes Into Midday Lockdown
PALM DESERT - Operations are back to normal at Palm Desert High School following a midday lock down. The campus went into full lock down shortly before Noon Wednesday when a student climbed up on the roof of the school's gymnasium and threatened to jump, according to Jeffrey Kaye, head of security for the Desert Sands Unified School District.
Police were able to successfully bring the boy to safety shortly before 12:30 p.m. while students and staff remained locked inside the school. Kaye says there was never any safety threat to anyone else on the campus.
The student was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for medical attention.
