2.9 Earthquake Rattles Desert Hot Springs
DESERT HOT SPRINGS - A string of small earthquakes rattled areas of the Coachella Valley Monday afternoon. The largest, recorded at a magnitude-2.9, hit about 7 miles NE of Desert Hot Springs about 1:58 p.m.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude-2.2 tremblor hit the area first around 1:44 p.m. A third, smaller quake hit about a minute following the second larger quake.
Just before 11 a.m Monday, a quake measuring magnitude-1.6 struck about 10 miles NE of Indio.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries.
