Pipe Bomb in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS - The Riverside County Bomb Squad has safely detonated a pipe bomb in Palm Springs.
A resident found the device Wednesday afternoon - and brought it to the police station around 2 p.m.
Police then took the device outside away from the public.
The Riverside County Hazardous Device team blocked off South Civic Drive near the police department so the bomb could be detonated safely.
South Civic Drive has reopened. The man who found the bomb will not be facing any criminal charges. He told police that his 92-year-old father found the pipe bomb while walking on San Rafael Drive.
Police say you should never handle an explosive device. They say to immediately leave the area, and call 9-1-1.
