Sixth Pipe Bomb Found in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS - Police are investigating the discovery of a sixth pipe bomb found in Palm Springs this week.
A pedestrian found the pipe bomb while walking in the 2700 block of Verona Roadin around 9:50 a.m. Saturday, according to Palm Springs police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff.
The public was asked to avoid the area near where East Racquet Club Road and Farrell Avenue curve into each other. The evacuation zone was east of Farrell, in a triangle bounded by Voltumo, Valmy, and Vicentia roads.
The device was described as similar to the others found earlier this week and appears to be made of metal said Kovaleff .
Four of the devices were found Thursday, a day after a pipe bomb was brought to the Palm Springs police station.
Police don't believe there are any more pipe bombs in Palm Springs and are now focused on finding the person who left the explosives scattered across the neighborhood.
No suspects have been identified, but according to the Palm Springs police they have received several tips and leads.
