Hiker Rescue in Palm Springs
PALM SPRINGS - A man who got overheated while hiking in the mountains below the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was rescued Monday.
The man was hiking with a friend along the Skyline Trail.
They called for help around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. One of the hikers, Jim Leiser was at the 2500 foot level when he couldn't walk anymore.
Search and rescue teams hoisted down a rescue team who provided Lieser with water and prepared to take him off the mountain.
Leiser was flown off the mountain and taken to the hospital where he was treated for dehydration.
Rescuers say this should be a reminder for all hikers to be well prepared with an adequate supply of water and a fully charged cell phone.
