College of the Desert's New President
PALM DESERT - After an extensive nationwide search, College of the Desert named its new president.
Joel Kinnamon was officially named the new head of College of the Desert on Friday. The 51 year old will be leaving his post as chancellor at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District in Pleasanton.
Kinnamon will be replacing Jerry Patton. Patton had been president at COD for the past eight years. He told the board last fall he would be retiring. Patton's last day on the job will be June 28th.
An advisory committee made up of board members, college faculty, staff, students and community members screened applicants, interviewed 15 candidates and recommended the finalists.
Kinnamon says he is overjoyed to be president and is eager to get to work. His first official day on the job will be on July 9th.
