PALM SPRINGS- A rare solar eclipse passed through the desert. The moon partially covered the sun, making a bright crescent shape.

The next time we'll see something like this in the desert is in 2044, according to Robert Victor, a retired astronomer who lives in Palm Springs.

"The solar elcipse for this valley is one of the three deepest solar elcipses of this century," said Victor.

The next time you'll be able to see a full eclipse in the United States is 2017, but it won't happen in the Coachella Valley. You can catch that event in a path going from Oregon to South Carolina.
