PALM SPRINGS - KMIR6 News has learned more about the 16 year old girl who was found dead along Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs earlier this week.
The Riverside County Coroner says she is Zia Hoyos of Desert Hot Springs.
This is a recent photo of the 16 year old.
She was found just before 2 a.m. Monday along North Gene Autry Trail and Via Escuela. Police shut down the road for 10 hours following the discovery.
Zia had injuries consistent with being hit by a car. However, the investigation has led police to believe that she was lying on the roadway when she was hit.
Police say this is an active investigation.
