Golf Tournament Raises Money for Families of Fallen Soldiers
INDIAN WELLS- Red white and blue American flags surrounded the green at Toscana Country Club golf course Tuesday afternoon, as golfers teed off to raise money for the non-profit "Folds of Honor."
"This is our way of supporting the troops the troops who support us, that take care of us and that protect us," said Arthur Jacobson of Indian Wells who was partcipating in the event.
This is the first time the PGA Patriot Pro Am is in Southern California. The $350 tournament fee combined with an auction are expected to raise nearly $30,000 for scholarships for dependents of fallen or disabled soldiers. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, there's more than one million dependents of fallen or disabled soldiers.
"It definately means a lot because if my kids where to be left alone if I were to pass away iIwould like to know that their are organizations out there to take care of them," said Marine Sgt. Daniel Kulowiec, stationed in 29 Palms.
