Bicyclist Dead, Driver Arrested on Manslaughter and DUI
PALM DESERT - Riverside County Sheriffs Deputies have just confirmed that a bicyclist is dead, after he was struck by a car Saturday evening.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. on Fred Waring Drive just south of Cook Street.
Deputies say the man on the bicycle was struck from behind and killed by a vehicle heading west.
New information relased Sunday revealed the bicyclist to be 52 Gerald Weiss of Palm Desert. The driver of the car, 24 year old Christopher Eugene Stocman of La Quinta, was arrested on DUI and manslaughter charges.
